Philippines and Manila

We flew to Manila to spend a couple of weeks in the Philippines. Coming in to Manila we saw the following within a couple of hours:

• Whores lining the streets looking for some action


• Homeless whole families huddled in street corners begging for food.


• Bakeries guarded by security guards with sawn-off shotguns


• A child do a poo in the gutter and then wipe his bum with some trash in the street.

And all this rubbing shoulders with Starbucks, Flap Jacks in air-conditioned mega malls

Manila is edgy and exciting. It is quite different from other SE Asia countries. It reminds me of being in Caracas.

We love it here.
