People come up to Nic and ask to have pictures with her quite often here. They say things like "Can we have picture? You very beautiful. Lovely eyes". Nic takes it all in her stride, but secretly loves it, flicking her hair and putting on a model smile. I have to take the pictures for them as they don't seem to find me quite so stunning.
Our chosen transport to the zoo was somewhat ignominious but exhilarating in the mad Beijing traffic. With the two of us in there it felt like the whole thing might tip onto its side.
