Tokyo

After only scratching the surface with Beijing, we unfortunately had to say goodbye. It is a bit of a mad-house but has an infectious energy. This led to a stark change when we got to Tokyo. Expecting it to be a jumping and bustling city, we were quite surprised to find it serene and quiet in comparison.

Everything in Tokyo is orderly and well thought out. People obey road rules (a novelty in China) and form queues in the underground. Wonderful.

Tokyo managed to split Nic and I right down the middle. Nic loved it beyond measure and thought the culture was amazing. I was disappointed to find Tokyo a bland American mall (and no robots!)

Between the two of us we are probably both right. The city gave up some of its identity to become a pseudo-US, but retained enough of the mad Japanese culture to be interesting.

Take a look at a few of the photos and decide for yourself...

Erm... Some toilet paper please...?
